i'm in the UH tech annex right now. i don't have anymore english classes so tuesday and thursday this week i have nothing from 11:30-5:30. got to hang out with vineet today though, been a while. we ate lunch, played some games, took a romantic stroll through the UH campus hehe. went to hoffheinz pavillion to see old drexler and olajuwon stuff but i'm not sure what i was looking for. saw UH final four banners though. and there was one guy on the court practicing his 3's with this cool machine that shoots the balls back at you, much like they use in tennis. man i'm already writing a lot (or maybe it's the low resolution) without really saying much. once again i've just been adding topics in blogger to remind myself what to blog about so here goes...it's in paragraphs for your convenience. i recommend that you don't try to tackle it all at once. read a paragraph or two then take a break, maybe get some water before you come back to finish.
the sunday before last i went to see madelyn in her company's production of swan lake and it was quite good (both the performance and ballet). thanks for inviting me! it was worth the suspense too. awesome job :)
as some of you know last week was teh sux0r for me...i had an english essay due tuesday, chemical processes exam wednesday, differential equations exam thursday and an organic chemistry exam friday...luckily i could just BS my english paper (which had resulted in A's on the previous two essays i had written). diff eqns i just studied a few hours for and basically memorized the review (though not well enough)...pretty sure i didn't do as well as last time but still good enough. for orgo i got to campus a few hours early (even saw jenn wang on the freeway when we were stuck in traffic hehe) and studied with chukwuma, always a pleasure. didn't do so hot but at least i got it over with and, as the last exam of the week, was able to start my weekend. however the first exam i took, chemical processes, was still on my mind. the test was 2 questions (35 points and 65 points). for the first question all i did was draw the diagram (which was 5 points). i didn't even finish all of the second question and wasn't even sure if the answers i did put down were correct :X i haven't been doing too well in that class so i thought i was screwed. we got them back in class yesterday and the grade breakdown was like this: A - 2 B - 9 C - 12 D - 21 F - 2 "omgoodness i'm one of only two F's?!?" i thought. the professor called my name and handed me the verdict...the number grade? 62...but the letter grade (what really counts)? B MINUS. wow. what the freak???? talk about a massive curve, and i was near the top! amazing how, even though i bombed it, i did better than most people...and if i had gotten the first question right (instead of 30 points off) i would've totally ruined the curve. that'll be my objective for the final ^_^
i wanna say thanks to all the people who helped me last week/weekend when i was all stressed out and gave me words of encouragement. praise God for caring friends and for humbling me
however last week had one other tragedy...on wednesday i was leaving the UH parking lot to go home. by this time there are several free parking spots, especially towards the middle and back. so as i drive down the lane touching the boundary of the lot, i proceed to turn right to exit as i did not see any cars in any driving lanes. however, as i began to turn, i saw something to my left out of the corner of my eye...but it was too late. a silver sentra was driving through the parking spaces at 20mph and i didn't see him because other parked cars blocked my view. i hit the brakes but BAM. the heartbreaker was hit. our front bumpers collide. surprisingly i wasn't that shocked or upset, probably because i thought he was at fault. we park and get out to look at our cars. he says to me something like "what's wrong man??? i wasn't even going that fast." ?!?! uhh sure thing buddy...luckily a security guard was right there and radioed a cop for us. i called my mom and told her the deal, she was cool about it. when the cop got there we explained what happened and he told the other guy that he was at fault (phew). we swapped info, the guy got a citation, and we went our separate ways. i was a bit timid driving home though, afraid to get into another accident. gotta stay confident though, can't turn into some paranoid hermit. i'm just glad no one was hurt or anything. i'll post a pic of the damage later.
oo my bro and his family came back on friday! my poor dad worked a grueling 8 hour shift thursday night, got home at midnight, drank a red bull, then proceeded to drive with my mom all the way down to McAllen, TX (rio grande valley) to pick them up. he slept some on the way back but he then had to go back into work at 4PM friday. it was cool to see them all again though. matthew was shy around me!! at least the first day. he kept hiding behind chairs and stuff, afraid that i'd see him. unfortunately i didn't get to see them that much actually. they left sunday morning too so i guess it'll be a while before i see them again. shucks. they got me a cool towelie t-shirt though :) (i'll post a pic of that later too)
saturday was my cousin marissa's wedding! man it was a beautiful ceremony. apparently i cry at weddings :X well at least with family (my bro and now my cousin) it was just great to see how much my cousin has grown over the years, especially spiritually! i hope her marriage is long and fulfilling~
i'm actually finishing this post a day after i started it...watching the rockets game right now. i've enjoyed watching them "with david" this season, we both seem to react the same way...usually either "WHOOO," "wtf???" or "*phew*" hehe. ack we should be the ones up 3-1 right now. if only we had more experience. oh well, it ain't over till it's over. but even if we do lose to the lakers, i guarantee that we'll be back with a vengeance next year. oh and for all you franchise haters out there...i think he's proved this series that he can play to win. and gotta give nachbar his props too :P
oh man i saw the coolest window sticker last week...it said "i'm not tailgating, i'm drafting" haha. too good. so i've finally gotten back to working out a lot...and man it feels good. i dunno if there's a better way to get out stress. okay rockets really need to pick it up cuz they're getting owned. *sigh* hope this isn't the end of the season. gonna go watch now...stay cool people
