i don't exactly feel like blogging a whole lot, but this place needs an update and i have plenty to talk about so...
i spent this past week at student life camp as a counselor for my 8th grade guys. not only was it my first time as a counselor, but it was my first camp at all, so i was a bit nervous. the entire experience was really awesome though. worship was led by todd agnew, and aside from him being a good musician, he really ministered to us as worshippers and taught us what that really means. the speaker, david nasser, was also really effective in taking the Word and seeing how it applies to our personal lives. that's really what i pray everyone will do now that we're home...the lessons and stories we learned at camp are useless unless we apply them in our lives! we didn't go to just have fun, we went to be transformed and come home different. i think our 'family group' is definitely closer and it'll be interesting to see how we all progress together during the summer as an SLG class :) my favorite part might have been the church group sharing that we had on thursday, because it was really encouraging to hear how God had touched so many students in just a few days. i myself feel like i got a lot out of it even by being a counselor. working for God full-time is definitely satisfying and strengthened my resolve to be in full-time ministry. i also learned to pray more and depend on Him for strength...something i definitely needed this past week. personally, i hope we go back to camp challenge next year so that there'll be more intimacy within our church though
on friday night i got to go eat at johnny carino's for family and friends night. usually when restaurants open, employees (like my brother) get to bring some people to the restaurant a few days before it opens to eat there at half price. it's basically practice for the employees before they really open (which is monday for JC's). man the food...was freaking good. everything had so much flavor! and the desserts...were so rich. prices weren't too bad either considering the quality. if you want some food recommendations, lemme know, cuz i suggest you all go eat there at some point :D
oh yeah, speaking of johnny carino's...i'm not working there haha. i forgot to post that earlier...i actually had to quit the day after i got the job :-X since student life camp was during an important training week for the restaurant, i knew i couldn't have both. it's possible that i'll return there to work in the future, but i'm not so sure a restaurant is the best place for me. anyways, i think they're still hiring, so if any of you wanna apply there, tell them brad pitre (my bro) told you about the place :P
alrighty i don't feel like typing anymore, and i think that's good enough for now, no? stay cool people
